Wishing You A Growth-Filled New Year...

Hi, Everyone -

How are you feeling about your relationship with God as you begin 2009?  Excited, anticipating great answers to prayer, confident He will lead and provide no matter what you face?  Or are you struggling with discouragement, wanting a fresh start, an end to stagnant, go-nowhere faith?

Whether you’re an overcomer or feel you’re an underachiever, I think you’ll agree with me that... SAVVY GIRLS GROW!

What do I mean by “Savvy”?  Is it someone who is super-bright?  A high achiever?  A totally self-disciplined person who can set spiritual and personal goals and stick to them? NO!  That some women are highly capable and super-sweet, super-spiritual, and seemingly perfect (to those of us observing from the outside), is true.  BUT, women who struggle with their emotions, need to stay close to Jesus to survive stuff in their lives, and long for more faith and trust and joy can also be Savvy Girls.

Do you know why?

Because Savvy Girls know they need to move forward in coping with life.  They don’t want to stay stuck, to stagnate, to see no change in their walk with Jesus or their attitudes or negative habits.  Savvy Girls WANT TO GROW.  They hunger for insight, instruction, and inspiration.

Do you recognize yourself?  Is this YOU?  Is this what YOU want as you step into 2009?   I know I do.

There are so many ways we can grow—and every THRIVE this year will touch on a different aspect of spiritual and personal growth.  I hope you won’t miss reading an issue—and that you’ll share what you learn with your friends, family, women’s ministry leaders, and others who want to grow.

Be sure and read Espresso for the Soul to discover the most powerful way Savvy Girls Grow.  Also, check out Want to Grow?  See which trait you want to cultivate this year!

Warm wishes for not only a Happy, but a growth-filled, New Year!

Savvy Girls Grow - By Making Time for God

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, Lord, I will seek. (David, Ps.27:8)

One of my bad habits involves turning on my email early each morning and spending way too long checking my inbox.  Why is it a bad habit?  Because, instead of spending time with God first, I cozy up to my computer and focus on what’s temporary rather than eternal.

You’d think that King David had his spiritual life all together—but clearly, he didn’t.  He did have one powerful trait going for him, however:  he never shrank from telling it like it was.  In fact, he journaled about his inner life—and he didn’t hide his inconsistencies, his fears, or his acute awareness that he needed God’s teaching and guidance.   David was in tune with his heart’s longing for a greater closeness to the Lord, but he also recognized that deliberate choices were needed in order to experience what he desired.  David’s response to the stirring in his spirit required a decision of his will.

It takes more than... [read more]

My husband was taking the pictures but he was there.  My assistant, Karen Robbins, and her husband Lamont, made it despite the weather!

Graduation Snow!

We had two weeks of continuous snow in our area and I wondered if I’d have to graduate next May.  BUT—there was a one-day break in continuous snow storms and the Hooding Ceremony went on as planned.  Hope you enjoy the photos.

Want a Bible-based retreat or seminar to inspire your women to KEEP GROWING?

Want your women hearing and applying Scripture, becoming passionate and purposeful followers of Jesus?  If so, consider offering Keep Growing, a spiritually impacting series drawn from the life of Abraham for your women’s event.  For information, contact me anytime!

This Spring I’m thrilled to encourage women in China and Oregon by teaching on real-life issues experienced by Abraham.  KEEP GROWING traces the very human ups and downs of an incredible follower of God—and his story will help you:

  • Discover the importance, for yourself, of walking in obedience.
  • Recognize that knowing and watching your weaknesses helps you grow.
  • Identify six common misconceptions about who God is.
  • Learn how to wisely handle conflict.
  • Develop the ability to wait in faith for God to move in your life.
  • Acquire more insight into what matters most to you.

Check the convenient and secure online store on my website to obtain this series on CD’s.
