“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27.

Do you sometimes wish you could simply fly away? I’m not sure I want to get in a hot air balloon but, at times, I wouldn’t mind flying away for a little while!

As I prayed and pondered what the Lord wanted me to share with you in this turbulent time, I thought of our need for PEACE. But where does it come from? As Jesus said, if you’re looking for it in the world, i.e. society, community, family, even your church, it is temporary at best.

Situations change. People change. Everything that is temporal changes— even our bodies, as most of us know.

Yes, it is wonderful when everything and everyone who impacts us thinks and acts and meets our hopes and expectations. But it is still usually temporary!

There is only one source of PERMANENT AND ETERNAL PEACE. It is found in one person alone: Jesus Christ, Son of God, Prince of Peace, and Sovereign Lord. Isaiah 9:6

First: Your peace and mine comes through believing Christ took away our guilt and shame at the Cross and receiving Him as our Savior and Lord. He died to reconcile us to God. John 1:12

Second: Your peace and mine comes as we receive His power to forgive others, so we are reconciled in our human relationships. Ephesians 4:32

Third: Your peace and mine comes as we guard our hearts and minds from input that does not honor Christ who lives in us. This can be what we think and stew over, what we read or watch and get agitated over, what we listen to and believe and are distressed over. Proverbs 4:23

If we look at the world around us for peace, we won’t find it for very long. In fact, we can easily end up emotionally exhausted!

If you resonate with this cute picture and need someone to talk to, please get in touch!

Jesus promises us PEACE, but sometimes we don’t know how to find it.

I’m also starting to make short 1-3-minute teaching videos. (Bear with me as I learn this new technology!) You’ll find two from this week on my website, plus a downloadable handout which you’re welcome to print out or share with others. If you look at the downloadable on my site, you’ll see the Scriptures these two videos cover. Here are the links for this:

Do you want to have more peace? Are you willing to seek it and do whatever is necessary on your part to experience the peace Jesus promises? It won’t come by wishing and hoping and even praying for it! It comes by guarding and filling our minds and hearts with God’s truth.

Again, if I can help you work through your distress, I am here. This is my calling—to encourage women to live in the power of all Jesus wants for us as we walk through life.

With love,

Poppy
