Are you too busy? Do you wear too many  hats and juggle too many tasks? Do you need to slow down?I am stimulated by new challenges and opportunities--BUT, I'm learning to stop and ask myself, "Have I got the time to do what I already have on my plate, plus this?"  Too often, the answer is NO!I thought I'd share with you a personal email I sent recently expressing my new-found determination to learn to say No--to myself most of all. For context, I was praying about going to India to teach, for the fifth time. Perhaps it will get you thinking about all that is on your plate this Fall--and what you might need to reevaluate.
"Hi ....: I have decided to not keep going all the time so I won't be coming to the Chicago meeting. I find what I need the most is to stop long enough to implement what I have already learned.
I have also decided not to go to India. As I thought about being gone for three weeks to Singapore in January, and then adding another three weeks for India, I again felt I am gone so much that I could easily neglect what needs to take priority: speaking, writing, marketing my upcoming book, and doing more with my blog and website articles etc. My overall passion is to teach and encourage and inspire, so whether it is face to face or via the internet, I have open doors--so long as I stop running everywhere!
I had an hour with my spiritual director this week. It was good to stop, be quiet, share, and get her insights and prayers. I need the input so I can keep up the output!"
Question: To know God, and know ourselves, we need to intentionally cut out some of our busyness.
What do you think God is asking you to lay aside so you have time for Him, His purposes for your life, and for your own physical, emotional, and spiritual renewal?
