Need a Spiritual Checkup? Try this Quiz!

Every time I visit my doctor, her assistant asks me to review a list of questions about my health and medicines. It got me wondering: Maybe this is something all of us who want to be spiritually healthy and becoming more like Jesus should do?

SO: Here is a spiritual checklist taken straight from Ephesians 4:22-32. I hope you’ll take it—and be honest with yourself even if you don’t
come through with flying colors!

(If possible, look up the passage and reflect before answering.)

Here’s the opening question:

HOW HAS THE LORD CHANGED ME IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS?
  1. V. 22-23: Has my attitude changed in some areas for the better?
  2. V. 25: Am I seen as a truthful person, one who can be trusted?
  3. V.26: Do I handle my temper differently than before?
  4. V. 26: Do I carry grudges? Is there someone I’m bitter towards?
  5. V.28: Am I honest and hardworking?
  6. V.29: Do I speak words that build up rather than tear down?
  7. V.31: Do I make forgiveness my aim when I’m hurt or offended?
  8. Would others say I am kinder and more tenderhearted since I followed Jesus?
HOW DID YOU DO?

Scripture is clear that following Jesus is meant to change us. BUT, IF YOU’RE TELLING YOURSELF, “I’M SUCH A FAILURE, I HAVEN’T CHANGED MUCH AND I’M FAR FROM BEING LIKE JESUS”, BE ENCOURAGED.
Jesus is not viewing you like a disappointed or angry parent, He is saying:
  1. COME TO ME and I will make you the person I know you can be.
  2. I am the Master Remodeler of your heart, your will, and your attitudes. Ask for my help.
  3. I have made you new, and I promise to continue the good work I began in you. Phil.1:6
  4. I love you, accept you, and want you close as you continue to become more like Me

I’m praying this spiritual check-up stirs you to hunger and thirst to be more like Him.  That’s what it’s done for me—and like all of us, I have a long way to go!

Blessings,
Poppy
