WAITING—GOD’S WAY TO DEEPEN FAITH!

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."  Psalm 27:14

First the bud, then the bloom that is beautiful to see. This is how God works in nature and in us! Nothing appears instantly as it will be. Nor does our faith. It is always being tested, deepened, developed as God stretches us with circumstances that we want dealt with immediately!

Do you sometimes, or all the time, cry out: “God why don’t you do something NOW?” “What are you waiting for?" “God, if you cared, if you are all powerful, answer my prayers.”

We pray in genuine anguish. We pray with concern. We pray with impatience. We pray with frustration wanting God to work on our timetable. But He doesn’t.

Remember Abraham? Was God wasting Abraham’s time—or was He deepening his, and Sarai’s, faith?

Remember Joseph? Years of false accusations, being forgotten, abused and abandoned by his brothers? Was God wasting these experiences?

Remember David? Anointed, promised he would be king, then on the run for 13 years. Why, God?

Read the Psalms and see how often they talk about crying out to God, about waiting for Him to act: Psalms 4; 13; 14; 59; 71—but then read the ending verses that show a deeper faith.

A Suggestion: jot down these five Psalms and read one a day—they are spiritual vitamins!
